The centre was designed by Pritzker-Prize-winning Zaha Hadid and was host to swimming, diving and synchronised swimming during the London 2012 Summer Olympic and Paralympics Games.
The centre opened to the public in 2014 following major transformation works which have transformed the building from the Olympic Games to a building fit for Olympic legacy. The complex boasts two 50m swimming pools, a 25m diving pool and a seating capacity of 2,500 it is set to become one of the leading facilities of its kind in the world. In addition, there is also a dedicated dry diving facility, a health and fitness offer and family-friendly changing areas to cater for all sections of the community.
In partnership with GLL, Engie and the London Legacy Development Corporation (LLDC), Kelda Technology was selected to install their innovative shower systems within the Training Pool area. The current site was operating on a reduced flow rate of 8 l/min, but by installing Kelda’s patented shower panel, set to 5 l/min, the LAC was able to save a further 37.5% in water and energy savings while improving shower experience by 125%.
In a recent survey undertaken by Engie, 100% of users preferred a Kelda shower system to the previously installed conventional shower. With all users recommending that they should be installed across the entire complex.
